AFFILIATION

The Asia Pacific Research Association on Curriculum Studies, Inc. (APRACSI) started as an initiative of a group of enthusiastic Curriculum Studies students belonging to the UP Curricularists Society of the College of Education Curriculum Studies Area at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. With the help of their Curriculum Studies Area adviser, Dr. Amelia Fajardo, Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines, the very first Asia Pacific Conference on Curriculum Studies and Instructional Designing (APCCSID) was launched in 2017. During APRACSI’s formative period, the need to establish a professional organization to anchor the future long-term goals of the conference became apparent, which led to the birth of APRACSI. The demand to make APRACSI a long-standing professional organization in the field of curriculum studies was further kindled after the success brought by the first conference in 2017.

Initially, the Philippines served as host to APCCSID but eventually, other APRACSI country-members hosted the future international conferences. In 2019, it was hosted by APRACSI members in Brunei. In 2021, it was hosted by APRACSI members in Malaysia and in 2022, APCCSID was hosted by APRACSI members in Japan. In all the APCCSID events, CSAPI members participated in assisting host countries as part of the organizing committee and providing support to ensure APCCSID’s success.

APRACSI consists of an international board from different countries especially in the Asia Pacific region. The local chapter in its headquarters and the APRACSI affiliate in the Philippines, the Curriculum Studies Association of the Philippines, is composed of professional people with common ground in the field of curriculum studies from different schools across levels and from other institutions.

CSAPI members are likewise highly encouraged to be part of APRACSI and it is in this light that a membership package is offered for those who wish to become members of both organizations.
